Whether contemplating a search, considering contact, facing reunion or navigating complex family relationships (including rejection), understanding and working through the inherent challenges in each stage of your journey is essential to creating successful relationships and ultimately your own healing. The journey then becomes about developing a deepening awareness of your own inner power that replaces a sense of victimhood and a growing compassion that replaces anger and sorrow. The search for the other is really a search for oneself – the missing pieces of our spirit we never knew we lost.

 

For the past 33 years, I’ve had the privilege of counseling countless first/birth parents, adoptees and adoptive parents with the complex issues involved in adoption reunion. Through the publication in 1991 of The Other Mother and the NBC produced film of the book in 1995, I’ve heard thousands of stories from all sides of the triad. Over the years, I’ve given keynote addresses and workshops in the United States, Canada and Italy, and have facilitated support groups for over 28 years. I’ve also appeared on Good Morning America, CNN, MSNBC, and many local television and radio programs around the country and in Canada. All along the way, I have done extensive research and, in my own journey, benefited from many different healing methods.

Cost for a session is $70 an hour, however no one is ever turned away for lack of funds.
